2. What makes a Net Gen?

photo-48x48.png

Blog your answers to the focus questions in ‘What makes a Net Gen’ in the Who are the Net Gen? module, here.

Who do you think the Net Gen are? Are they the same as the ‘Y’ generation? What age group are they? Are ‘their’ learning styles different from ‘ours’? Is this is all just a load of old baloney and a moral panic over nothing?

What characterises their attitudes towards

  • Information?
  • Community?
  • Collaboration?
  • Communication?
  • Choice?
  • Complexity?

What makes a ‘net’ generation? Is it age or ways of behaving online, regardless of age? Does actually growing up with Web 2.0 technologies actually make any difference? Write down your thoughts, discuss with a partner or small group in the class, or blog it!

Who do you think the Net Gen are? Young people from developed countries that have access to Internet devices.

Are they the same as the ‘Y’ generation? Not sure, I guess so. Similar but perhaps a bit younger.

What age group are they? teenagers

Are ‘their’ learning styles different from ‘ours’?

They need constant rich media and inclusive learning, they want to learn what they want to learn. Is that a paradox or a tautology?

Is this is all just a load of old baloney and a moral panic over nothing?

No I feels stressed about it and loose sleep some nornings wondering about where it will al end up?

    What characterises their attitudes towards

Information? Has to have a web movie , the funnier the better
Community? the web savvy and the non web savvy. ipod vs ipod-less
    Collaboration? borrowing your ipod
    Communication? text me later
Choice? tooo much what is good why am ireading this is it useful will I use this bookmark,…ever. I don’t remember which computer I was on when I bookmarked that site.
    Complexity? Hmm
What makes a ‘net’ generation? technology, attitude
Is it age or ways of behaving online, regardless of age?
Not sure about this one. Behaviour online. I think if your name is associated you should be careful. It all gets recorded.
Does actually growing up with Web 2.0 technologies actually make any difference?
I heard there is a theory that it makes people think differtly, thought processes are altered. I think this is probably a myth. Kids do seem to be more informed but are they smarter, I think they have access to technology that makes them seems smarter than they are.

Write down your thoughts, discuss with a partner or small group in the class, or blog it!

    OK thanks
